Thursday in Lucca

Spent the am with Marcos Aunt and Uncle and cousin. We visited his uncles wood working business and saw some of the amazing wood doors they make. Lunch was then the best food ever, aside from my mother in law - her sister in law is an amazing cook also - fresh pasta ravioli stuffed with spinach and cheese - yeah baby as Coco said.

Their house is beside Marcos grandfathers house where Marcos mom grew up so took some pictures, also of the church in town. There was lots Marco remembered about growing up and spending his summers here so he really enjoyed it. Coco enjoyed playing with the dog next door and wandering around.

We then drove to Lucca which is south east of where we were last night, about 4 hours. We found via Rick Steve's book Hotel San Marco (how could it not be a good hotel with that name...!)
It is totally cool just outside gates of Lucca - we are going to bike ride the walls around Lucca tomorrow and visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa tomorrow as well. Pisa is about 20 km away from Lucca. Florence is also close but turns out we needed to make reservations for some of the museums in Florence a month ago - ha- so might be fun just to wander around Florence and see some of the lesser known stuff if we cannot get in. Plus molto tourists and so we are not much into that scene after braving it in Paris and knowing it is coming our way in Rome!

Coco has an angel following her as she frequently looses or forgets things and as we drive away from the hotel or gas station invariably some wonderful italian gentleman runs after us and hands us something she forgot!

All for now!
